Part of the motorway at Junction 3A Bathgate is currently restricted due to the smash with traffic being diverted via the hard shoulder. A white van can be seen heavily damaged in the middle of the road.

The westbound lane between Junction 3 and 3A is currently restricted due to the crash, with queues starting to build all the way back to Livingston from just outside Bathgate

Roads were flooded across parts of Scotland today after the Met Office issued a weather warning for heavy rain.

Occurring shortly after 11.15am, recovery services are now at the site of the crash on the Edinburgh City Bypass, with the RTC appearing to have involved one car and a small white van.

With the first reports of an RTC coming in shortly after 5.25am, emergency services have now remained at the scene for over three hours, and are expected to be there for "some time."

The closures have been scheduled to minimise disruption to traffic

Motorists are being urged to plan ahead to avoid delays

Traffic Scotland has informed commuters that the lorry was believed to have overturned following a collision on the M8 at Junction one at Gogar Station Road which has caused the westbound lane to be closed.

Emergency services are in attendance.
