Emergency services are understood to be at the scene of a three car collision that has led to the closure of the M8 west bound junction 3A by Bathgate.
Traffic Scotland shared a post at approximately 4:54pm that stated that traffic was slowing on approach at the west bound lane was blocked due to the crash.
They later stated at 5:16pm that the lane was closed to traffic and that this was causing a back up of vehicles from junction 3A which meant a delay of at least 10 minutes for commuters.

In an image shared by Traffic Scotland, two Police Scotland vehicles, two fire engines and what appeared to be an ambulance shutting the road off as they tended to a vehicle that looked to be pressed against the barrier adjacent to the outside west bound lane.
In a Tweet, Traffic Scotland shared: "#M8 Junction 3A
"CLOSED Westbound at J3A due to a collision
"Traffic backing up from J3-Approx 10 minute delay
"Emergency services are in attendance."
Officers confirmed that they were in attendance at the scene following the report of a three vehicle collision on the M8.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called at around 4:45pm on Wednesday October 5 2022 following the report of a three vehicle road crash on the M8 westbound at junction 3A near Bathgate.
"Emergency services are currently in attendance."
