India Meteorological Department has predicted a risk of flash floods in the Vidarbha region

NAGPUR: For the third consecutive day, the city reported one death due to Covid on Friday. The deceased, an elderly person, was admitted to a private hospital with a severe co-morbid condition coupled with Covid. After this death, Vidarbha’s toll is now 21,789.

NAGPUR: Genome sequencing of Covid positive samples from the region has shown dominance of new Omicron sub-lineage BA.2.75 in Vidarbha, which is witnessing spike in all the districts. This highly mutated variant of Omicron is more fitter and known to dodge antibodies beside better attaching itself to human cells.

NAGPUR: Central India, especially Vidarbha, has high number of patients of sickle cell and thalassaemia, both genetic blood-related disorders. While medicines and surgical treatment are available, most of the patients coming from poor family background cannot afford them.
