NAGPUR: Vidarbha skipper Disha Kasat scored a responsible 60 runs and her bowlers complemented her effort as they defeated Pondicherry by 14 runs in the senior women's T20 match in Vizag on Sunday.
Vidarbha bowlers defended 129 runs by restricting Pondicherry to 115 for 6. Earlier, Vidarbha made 129 for 7 with skipper Disha leading from the front by hitting 4 sixes and as many boundaries during her 48-ball knock.
Right-hander Disha arrived at the crease in the 6th over and got out in the last over. She had a useful partnership of 28 runs with Bharti Fulmali.
While defending, Komal Zanzad (4-0-17-2), Kanchan Nagwani (4-0-18-2), Arya Gohane (3-0-13-0), Disha Kasat (4-0-26-1) not only choked runs but also grabbed five wickets between them included that of B Tamore (56), Pondicherry's top-scorer. Tamore was the victim of left-arm pacer Komal.
With this win, Vidarbha outfit has three wins in as many matches and are leading the Group 'C'.
They still have three matches to play. They face Saurashtra in the next match on Tuesday.
If Vidarbha have to qualify for the knockouts without much hassle, the Disha-led team will look for a big win over Saurashtra, who have lost all the matches they have played so far and are sitting at the bottom. Top two teams from the group will qualify for the knockouts.
