NAGPUR: Batting was not at all easy on Kolkata's Jadavpur University Campus pitch. It was keeping low and Vidarbha batters struggled in pursuit of a 112-run target. Despite keeping one foot across the line with a brilliant bowling effort from Umesh Yadav and trio of spinners - Aditya Sarwate, Akshay Karnewar and Akshay Karnewar - Vidarbha did not have it easy while chasing.
But their opener R Sanjay showed them the way with a valiant 63-run knock on his comeback. His elegance and Jitesh Sharma's 14 not out towards the end took Vidarbha to the quarterfinals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with a 5-wicket win in the pre-quarterfinal fixture with 8 balls to spare.
