NAGPUR: The average first innings score at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot is anything beyond 165. And, when Vidarbha had just 155 on the board, it looked like in-form Uttarakhand would easily knock the target off on Tuesday.
But 23-year-old Yash Thakur punctured Uttarakhand plans with brilliant short of length rippers in the death overs. When Uttarakhand needed 31 runs off 18 balls and their mainstay Aditya Tare was calling the shots, Thakur (4-0-22-4) claimed two wickets each in 18th and 20th overs including that of Tare in the last over to seal the deal.
