The new, Dual-Motor version of the Rivian R1S turns out to be noticeably more efficient than the more powerful QM version. Its range might exceed 350 miles.

As a reminder, Rivian currently sells its passenger vehicles – the R1T pickup and R1S SUV – just in North America.

After posting its Q2 results, Rivian bumped its production guidance to 52,000 units for this year, up by 2,000 units from the previous estimate.

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe said the company has plenty of orders for the R1T and R1S that will take "deep into 2024" to fulfill at the current production rates.

Rivian's profit per vehicle delivered improved by $35,000, helped by the company-wide cost reductions that include the in-house manufacturing of the Enduro electric drive units.
