The Latest Breaking News from the Indianapolis 500

The Dane was hired by Ed Carpenter Racing after impressing in a recent test at Barber Motorsports Park, and will make his IndyCar debut next season with a road and street course deal in addition to contesting the Indianapolis 500 in a third car.

Rasmussen, the 2023 Indy NXT champion, is currently signed to run the road and street events in the team’s #20 Chevrolet entry, along with being in a third car for the Indianapolis 500. Team owner Ed Carpenter will drive the #20 for the six oval races.

He will take the place of Helio Castroneves, who will instead take a minority ownership role with the team and solely contest the Indianapolis 500 in his quest for a record fifth victory.

Legge, 43, one of nine women to have competed in the Indianapolis 500, will drive SS Greenlight Racing’s No. 07 Chevrolet in four Xfinity races this year with sponsorship from Blast Equality Collab (BEQ), Team Schuler of Compass Real Estate and the Women’s Premier Basketball Association (WPBA).

McLaren recently ran a trio of tribute liveries at the Indianapolis 500 to commemorate its unique Triple Crown successes. These were combined into a single look for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who ran the revised livery in Monaco and Spain.

After losing his IndyCar Series drive at Ed Carpenter Racing to Ryan Hunter-Reay, who ironically drove for Dreyer Reinbold at the Indianapolis 500, Daly will make his debut in the rebranded rallycross-style series – the brainchild of American action sports superhero Travis Pastrana.

Apart from his usual strong run at the Indianapolis 500, where he finished eighth, Daly has struggled for speed elsewhere this year, with a next-best result of 14th at the St Petersburg opener. He finished 15th in Sunday’s race at Detroit. 

Palou earned his second straight pole for Chip Ganassi Racing, following on from the Indianapolis 500, on the new street track that’s been constructed by Penske Entertainment Corp around the GM headquarters at the city’s Renaissance Center.
