What we love
We’ve already extolled the virtues of Anyday’s plastic-free containers, which double as cookware that you can pop in the microwave, oven, freezer and dishwasher.
But the square dishes in particular may have changed lunch for me forever. I recently made salmon poached in olive oil in five minutes using Anyday’s medium square dish. Then I prepped, cooked, ate from (don’t judge) and stored the leftovers in the same dish, and later I will easily reheat that dish for dinner. The fillets fit neatly thanks to the square shape, which also made it easy to eat out of (no tipping over).

To cook, all I had to do was place frozen fillets in the dish and douse them in olive oil, cover in lemon slices and sprinkle with dill. Then I popped it all in the microwave for a few minutes. Yes, you can microwave fish with this container – I too was skeptical until I tried – thanks to the lid’s vented knob that lets out steam. The fish came out moist, flaky and disturbingly indistinguishable from oven-baked salmon.

A word to the wise: the dish’s glass is very hot to touch fresh out of the microwave, though it cools quickly once out. The same borosilicate glass that makes these containers able to handle extreme temperature swings also makes them heavy, and they will shatter if dropped, so handle them with care. But you don’t need to worry about them slipping out of your hands as you wash them, because they’re dishwasher-safe.
The brand offers round dishes too, but the square ones are more easily stackable and a better shape for baking brownies or casseroles (and making fish fillets). If you’d rather skip the glass entirely, Anyday has silicone food storage containers that we called “the perfect food storage” due to their durable, leak-proof and plastic-free design.
