Susan Boyle feared she wouldn't perform again after suffering a stroke

Susan Boyle was left fearing she would be unable to perform ever again after suffering a stroke.

The singer suffered a health scare in April and said it was 'crazy' to be back on stage so soon following her performance on Britain's Got Talent.

The 62-year-old returned to talent competition alongside the cast of Les Miserables and belted out the same 'I Dreamed A Dream' rendition that won over the nation 14 years ago, reports The Mirror.

Susan beamed as the audience in the Eventim Apollo gave her and the Les Mis cast a standing ovation.

Following her performance, the star opened up to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly about her disappearance from the showbiz circuit and explained that she had suffered a stroke.

"Susan, it is so lovely to see you, welcome," gushed Dec before he added: "It's hard to believe that you appeared on this show in 2009, 14 years ago.

"How does it feel to be back at BGT?"

The 62-year-old responded: "It feels great," which saw the audience give her a loud cheer as she continued: "It's really good.

"It's extra special for me actually, last April there, I suffered a minor stroke and I thought it'd be crazy to be back on stage and I have done it."

Simon Cowell went on to praise Susan and revealed that he had known the singing sensation had been unwell during her secret health struggles.

Susan is known to keep a low profile when she's not working and very rarely gives fans an insight into her life but last month made a super rare appearance as she reunited with Peter Kay.

The pair posed for a photo together as she visited the Phoenix Nights star during his live comedy tour, Peter Kay Live! in Glasgow.
