Country singer Shay Mooney, known as one half of the band Dan + Shay, is set to appear on The Voice this season alongside his musical partner Dan Smyers. While Mooney is away filming the show, he has three devoted fans cheering him on from home in Nashville — his sons Ames Alexander (4), Asher James (7), and Abram Shay (13 months).
Mooney shared that his sons have started to recognize his work, understanding that he appears on TV and performs at shows. His eldest, Asher, aged 7, and middle child, Ames, aged 4, are particularly excited to watch their dad on The Voice when it premieres.
The proud father humorously mentioned that his sons might gain some 'street cred' at school by being able to watch him on the show. He acknowledged that his boys could be tough critics, joking that they might point out any mistakes he makes on air.
Mooney, who shares his children with wife Hannah, expressed his excitement about his family being able to witness his performances. He emphasized the importance of setting a good example for his sons and being mindful of his actions and words while on the show.
Last January, the couple welcomed their third son, Abram Shay Mooney, into the world. Mooney announced the birth on Instagram, sharing a heartwarming video of himself singing to the newborn. Both parents expressed their gratitude and love for their newest family member in their social media posts.
