Victoria Police are investigating the theft of a $10,000 Armani jacket which officers believe was smuggled out of a store down the offender's trousers.
A police spokesperson said the man "casually walked out of Georgio Armani with a $10,000 jacket down his pants".
They said police had been told the suspect attended the South Wharf store on June 8 at about 2:45pm.
"The man took a black leather jacket into a change room and allegedly put the pricey item down his pants," the spokesperson said.
"The man walked out of the store without paying for the jacket."
Police released an image on Wednesday of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He was described as Caucasian in appearance, with a medium build and short dark hair which was "balding on top".
He was wearing black pants, a black long-sleeved jumper and black running shoes.
Investigators are urging anyone who has seen a similar jacket being sold below its market value to contact investigators.
