A Northern Ireland schoolboy has been recognised with the prestigious Diana Award – the highest accolade a young person in the UK can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts.
Ben Dickinson received his award after completing a ten-day charity trek from his hometown of Larne to the home of his favourite football team, Manchester United. The 11-year-old raised over £28,000 for food poverty charity, FareShare.
His 64-mile effort garnered support from family, friends and famous faces across Northern Ireland and beyond, including Manchester United stalwarts Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney, and Sir Alex Ferguson. His effort translated to over 115,000 meals for the UK hunger charity.
