In the eyes of many Manchester United fans, only a handful of the club's players deserve any credit following their disastrous campaign.
Top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo has been praised for his goalscoring feats while Anthony Elanga has had a breakthrough season. Meanwhile, the United faithful have shown their appreciation for goalkeeper David de Gea.
Despite being left out of the Spain squad for the March internationals, the 31-year-old is seemingly back to top form after a tricky 18 months. The shot-stopper, who has now been at United for more than a decade, has earned United a number of points this season with some terrific individual displays.

In fact, former United defender Paul Parker has suggested that United would not be occupying a European spot if it were not for his heroics. Speaking to BonusCodeBets, he said: “The reason why United are still in the European spot is because of David de Gea.
"So there are 10 outfield players as far as I can see, surely you don’t want your goalkeeper being the best football player on the pitch, do you?" Responding to criticism of De Gea’s distribution, he added: “He’s not like a modern-day goalkeeper, he is like a goalkeeper from my era.
“David de Gea just kicks the ball out of play sometimes, and they can’t score if the ball is out of play. So to cut a long story short, I am a fan of David de Gea, because he is a goalkeeper first and foremost.”
