Manchester United 'dealt Harry Kane blow' and more transfer rumours

Tottenham are reportedly unwilling to do business with Manchester United for England captain Harry Kane.

Having allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Old Trafford mid-season, United took their time to settle on a long-term successor for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. Erik ten Hag signed Wout Weghorst on loan as a stop-gap before earmarking Kane as his primary target for the summer transfer window.

The Manchester Evening News understands Kane is the preferred choice for Ten Hag in his search for a new striker, with free-scoring Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen also on the radar. However, reports from Sky Sports state United have been dealt a major blow when it comes to their impending pursuit for Kane.

It is claimed that Tottenham will not allow the 29-year-old to leave for another Premier League side when the market reopens. Germany heavyweights Bayern Munich are also reported to be in the mix for his signature, but the Sky Sports update does not indicate whether or not Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be open to doing business with the Bundesliga giants.

Kane only has 15 months to run on his current Spurs contract. He has previously been valued at £100million-plus.

Elsewhere, reports from Football Insider suggest former United forward Jesse Lingard will become a free agent at the end of this season when his one-year deal with Nottingham Forest expires. Having spent 20-plus years at Old Trafford, the academy graduate signed for the Midlands outfit last summer.

However, with no goals or assists in the Premier League this campaign, Lingard could be allowed to depart the City Ground in search of a new challenge. Lingard, 30, has played 19 games in all competitions for Forest.
