Kerry GAA has been plunged into mourning after the death of its President Gerald McKenna.
Tributes have poured in for Mr McKenna in the wake of his passing which showcase how highly-regarded a tireless volunteer he was.
Leading tributes, a county statement said: "We are deeply saddened to report that our esteemed Kerry GAA President has died.
"Gerald McKenna Ballyduff was also a former Chairman and a former Central Council Delegate.
"He was highly intelligent, most knowledgeable and extremely witty. We offer our sincere condolences to his family, friends and club. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a Anam."
Fellow GAA people across The Kingdom also shared testimonies in tribute to Mr McKenna.
Patrick Sheehan wrote: "My sincere condolence to all the McKenna family, Gerald was my teacher in the Tech in Causeway many moons ago, and have remained friends ever since. May you rest in peace, great man."
While Johnny Brosnan added: "I’m deeply saddened to hear that my most wonderful Gaa friend Gerald have gone to his heavenly home.
"He was a true gentleman who was always at the end of the phone to give the right Advice. Rest in Peace Gerard."
Tómas O'Sullivan also commented: "Rest in peace Gerald. What a man he was - intelligent and witty.
"I always enjoyed his speeches at functions. A great leader in the GAA family."
Lastly, Declan Moriarty said: "Rest in peace Gerald. A lovely man and the best President the Kerry County Board ever had or will ever have again."
Mr McKenna's funeral will take place on Tuesday at 11 am in St Peter and Paul's Church in Ballyduff.
