The key moments from King Charles’s coronation ceremony
King Charles III and Queen Camilla have been crowned in a historic coronation ceremony.
The King has become the 40th reigning monarch to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, the nation’s coronation church, since William the Conqueror was anointed monarch there on Christmas Day 1066.
Before the King was officially crowned, the Dean of Westminster brought the crown to the Archbishop of Canterbury who said the prayer of blessing. He then proclaimed: “God save The King!”
There was a touching moment during the ceremony between the King and the Prince of Wales as William paid homage to his father, the only blood prince to do so, in a break with tradition.
But it was Prince Louis who stole the show during the coronation, as he was pictured yawning, fidgeting and pointing at the ceiling. His brother, Prince George, played a role in the ceremony as a page boy.
Prince Harry, wearing medals pinned to his suit jacket, arrived alone at the Abbey to watch his father be crowned, before he took a seat in the third row.
