Ant and Dec issue update after new series is 'leaked' online

Ant and Dec have issued an update on Twitter after a new series was "leaked".

The Geordie presenters have been filming a new season of their DNA Journey on ITV. Ahead of its return, Mitre Studios shared a black and white video of Ant and Dec.

Text across the screen read: "Confidential. Not to be shared. Only intended for participants of DNA Journey Series 5".

Ant and Dec can then both be seen looking at the camera in the footage. Ant said: "Thank you for taking part in this series of DNA Journey. Before we get started, it's important you agree to a few rules to ensure a successful journey."

Ant and Dec then talk through the rules, which include keeping your phone on to receive DNA alerts, and a suggestion of "widening your vocabulary" prior to taking part, as many celebrities often repeat the word "wow" when they find out information about their ancestry.

The clip concludes as Dec said: "Thank you for watching, and have a pleasant DNA journey". The tweet said: "It's not a cult, it's a TV show #DNAJourney".

Sharing the tweet, Ant and Dec said: "Who leaked this?! [eyes emojis] #DNAJourney is back tonight at 9pm on @ITV". Fans were clearly thrilled with the announcement.

Chloe said: "Thanks Ant and Dec. You're amazing", while Francesca said: "I hope we can watch it in Ireland I always enjoy them". Iqra said: "I love this show".
