Saturday Night Takeaway fans were in tears as a young girl had a big question to ask her stepfather live on television tonight.
There was tears all around when hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly revealed they had someone backstage who had a big question to ask unsuspecting Nick. Nick was joined by his wife on the show, with them being quickly escorted down to the stage so the mystery person could come and ask the question they'd been dying to for ages.
As the pair sat down, it was soon revealed what the question might be, as the young girl joined her mum and stepdad on stage and, with the help of the audience and her family, asked the sweet question.
She cried as she thanked Nick for being a great stepdad to her after the tragic passing of her own father.
When she came to ask the question, the camera panned from Nottingham Forest football ground, to the studio audience and to some family and friends who set off a big drone display. The words spelled out: "Will you adopt me?"
As they cut back to the studio, Nick broke down in tears over the young girl's request, as he graciously accepted. Ant and Dec looked emotional as they celebrated with the family about their news.
One wrote: "Omg, only @antanddec can have the Nation in tears at 7:15pm on a Saturday evening on @itvtakeaway," as a second added: "I really love #SaturdayNightTakeaway but lads it makes me sad every week, the sad/sweet stories I just can’t be dealing with."
"What better accolade can a step parent wish for than the love of their step child wishing to be their child. Parenting skills right there! #SaturdayNightTakeaway," a third shared on social media.
A fourth added: " #SaturdayNightTakeaway Is anyone not crying over this young girls request?," with a fifth penning: "This programme provides the entertainment but wow it has its emotional moments #SaturdayNightTakeaway."
"Absolutely gone watching #saturdaynighttakeaway #SNT," a sixth wrote online.
It comes after the show received a string of Ofcom complaints after they edited a baby scan. During a visit to the hospital, a pregnant woman named Amy and her husband Liam were getting ready to have a glimpse of their baby. An actress, posing as a sonographer, told Liam to speak to Amy's baby bump. He was shocked to witness his 'baby' wave back at him.
Fans weren't amused with the prank, which Amy was in on, and took to Twitter to complain about the 'cruel' moment, as one wrote: "Is it just me or does this feel in really bad taste, messing with a father's first time experience like this."
