A depression near the upper Vietnamese coast has developed into Tropical Storm Soulik and is expected to cause heavy downpours across Thailand until Monday, according to the Meteorological Department.

In the last 24 hours, extreme heat has allegedly killed 22 people in Delhi-NCR. The temperature is peaking at over 40 degrees – with the night of June 18 being the hottest in the region in the last 12 years, as per the meteorological department.    

The Meteorological Department predicts heavy rains in the western parts of the North, the Central Plain and the South from April 20 to 26 due to southwesterly winds and low pressure areas.

Tamil Nadu heatwave to continue with temperatures reaching 44 degrees, but relief expected with summer showers bringing heavy rains.

Summer storms are expected from Friday through Tuesday, according to the Meteorological Department.

The government has issued a warning about extreme heat in the coming days and advises people to avoid staying outdoors due to risks of having heatstroke.

Weather forecasters say temperatures could reach 43.0-44.5 degrees Celsius this month, with some relief from summer storms.
