A SpaceX Starlink satellite is falling to Earth after a mid-orbit failure on 17 December. While the craft is expected to burn up safely beneath the International Space Station, the event highlights growing worries over orbital debris.

The California startup Vast has opened a call for scientific research aboard its Haven-1 private space station, which is set to launch atop a SpaceX rocket next year.
