NASA astronaut Chris Williams returned to Earth on Sunday after completing his first mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), concluding an eight-month stay that saw him conduct cutting-edge scientific research, perform two spacewalks and help maintain the orbiting laboratory.
Williams landed safely in Kazakhstan alongside Russian cosmonauts Sergei Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev aboard the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft. The capsule parachuted into the steppes southeast of Dzhezkazgan at 5:27 a.m. CDT after undocking from the ISS around three and a half hours earlier, marking the end of a 241-day mission in low Earth orbit.
