Florida health officials have removed a proposed "moral or ethical belief" exemption from their school vaccine rule, but they are still moving to end four vaccine requirements for children entering school and child care. The change appeared in a Notice of Change in the Florida Administrative Register on Sept. 30, ahead of a public hearing held Thursday morning in Lake Mary.
The four vaccines still targeted are hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox), Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and pneumococcal conjugate. If the rule is finalized, Florida schools and child care facilities would no longer require them for entry. Hib and pneumococcal shots are required mainly for young children in child care and prekindergarten.
