The first quarter of the race featured a thrilling duel between polesitter Laurens Van Hoepen and Hitech’s Martinius Stenshorne, with Christian Mansell also keeping himself in the mix in the second ART.

The 18-year-old American will have his first taste of F1 power in private testing with the 2022 AMR22, the car that will be also used regularly this year by reserve driver Felipe Drugovich.

Theo Pourchaire won the 2023 F2 Championship, but he will not return to the series in 2024 as he evaluates a switch to Japan's Super Formula series and continues to be Sauber F1’s reserve driver.  

The 21-year-old Briton, a member of the Williams Driver Academy, will return to the junior single-seater championship for a second season in 2024.

GB3 runner-up Dunne was the star of Saturday’s opening race, belying his lack of experience in F3 machinery by fighting his way up from sixth on the grid to an eventual second behind Hitech team-mate Luke Browning.

The Briton, who is a member of the Williams Driver Academy, dominated the Macau GP last weekend – securing pole position, victory in the qualification race and a triumph in the main event.
