Bird flu has been causing growing concern in recent months, with hundreds of millions of birds dying of the virus since October 2021. This is the largest global outbreak.

Health authorities in Cambodia say the father of an 11-year-old girl who died this week after contracting bird flu has tested positive for the virus but has not displayed any major symptoms

The test results of 11 additional contacts of the girl, 3 or 4 of which are reportedly symptomatic, have not yet returned.

The World Health Organization is working with Cambodian authorities after two confirmed human cases of H5N1 bird flu were found among one family in the country.
