MYSURU: Hunsur rural police arrested a woman barely a month after her husband died under mysterious circumstances. She had told relatives that he had died of a heart attack.
Shilpa was arrested by police after she confessed to the murder of her husband Lokamani (35), on June 9. Police unearthed the crime after Lokamani’s relatives complained following her doubtful behaviour. The couple has two children.
Police said Shilpa was quizzed following a complaint. She told police she murdered her husband by strangulating him while he was asleep. Subsequently, she informed their relatives that her husband had died of a heart attack. To destroy the evidence, the body cremated immediately.
Police have found that she was having an illegal affair with a youth living in the neighbourhood and it was discovered by her husband recently. He had arguments with her over the issue. She conspired with her lover to kill her husband to keep her affair a secret. Police have launched a search for the absconding lover.
