Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has dismissed speculation that his DC United side are looking to sign Jesse Lingard.
The 30-year-old was recently released by Nottingham Forest having struggled to impress during his time at the City Ground. He arrived on a free transfer last summer but scored just twice for the Reds with both goals coming in the Carabao Cup.
Lingard saw his game time limited in his final few months at the club having played just two minutes for Steve Cooper's side since they lost 3-1 to Tottenham in March.
And with the summer transfer window now open, players from across Europe are being linked with a move to the States after Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami. One of those names is Lingard but his former Red Devils teammate has dismissed any speculation.

"The Jesse Lingard [rumour]? I don't know where that has come from," Rooney said pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Real Salt Lake on Sunday as reported in the MEN. "From my point of view we have no interest in signing him."
Later on, Rooney was asked about any potential incomings for his Washington team. He replied: "We are obviously looking, there is a few players we have identified who we will work hard to try and bring in and there is things we can move round to try and do that.
"We have to be at our best, work at our best and we have to find the best way to free money up to bring players in."
