Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. named a potential fit for Raiders

The Raiders have found their new offensive coordinator in Kliff Kingsbury and it’s time to start looking for quarterbacks that match his offense. In the past, Kingsbury has prioritized arm strength and the ability to throw the ball down the field.

So which quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft would best fit Kingsbury’s offense? In a recent article by ESPN, they named Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. as a potential fit in Las Vegas. Here is a snippet of what they had to say about Penix and his fit in the NFL:

The Washington offense thrives on deep shots, and with an FBS-leading 46 completions on passes of 20-plus yards, Penix has an explosive arm and a quick release. He is most comfortable playing within the framework of the offense and is at his best inside the pocket.

That arm strength was on full display at the Senior Bowl. The ball just exploded out out of his hand, and he drove it to the outer portions of the field with ease.

There are some red flags when it comes to Penix including his injury history and overall accuracy. But his arm talent and ability to throw the ball down the field does make sense with the new OC of the Raiders.

If the Raiders wanted to wait until Rounds 2 or 3 to select a quarterback, Penix could be an option. Expect to hear his name in connection with the Raiders a bunch over the next two months.
