Tyron Woodley claims Tommy Fury wants to fight UFC legend at two weeks' notice

UFC legend Tyron Woodley claims Tommy Fury wants to fight him on just two weeks' notice.

The former welterweight champion hasn't fought since he was knocked out by Jake Paul last December after losing a split decision to the YouTuber the previous August. Now he claims Fury, a long-time rival of Paul's, is looking to fight him, but only in very favourable circumstances for himself.

He also claims other fighters have insisted the fight take place at 200lb, which would see him move up over two stone from his UFC prime. His bouts with Paul took place at 190lb, with Woodley tipping the scales at 189lb and 185lb for their two meetings in 2021, so he would be putting on major size to make a fight happen at that weight.

The American has been relatively quiet over the last year since his loss, but took to Twitter with an angry message last night, saying: "These guys really only want to fight at 200 with two weeks' camp. Scary AF! Tommy Fury, quit being a h** and lets lock this fight in today. We tired of the [cap]. Only b**** worse is Cappin' KSI!"

Mirror Fighting understands there were serious talks underway for Fury and Woodley to headline a fight night in Dubai this November. But those discussions went cold and it remains to be seen just who each man is going to face when they make their returns to the ring.

Fury, for his part, hasn't fought since April when he faced Daniel Bocianski on the undercard of his brother Tyson's world heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium. He was due to take on Jake Paul at Madison Square Garden last month, but couldn't travel to America and the bout was cancelled.

It was the second time he was unable to face Paul due to an issue outside of his control, having suffered an injury in December that forced him out of fighting his rival at the time. It was then that Woodley was drafted in to replace him in a rematch, in which he was matching Paul for six rounds before ultimately being stopped.

The UFC legend was once a dominant welterweight champion, but lost his belt to Kamaru Usman in 2019 and hasn't been able to cobble together a win since. He lost to Gilbert Burns a year later and was then stopped by Colby Covington and Vicente Luque before leaving the promotion and moving into boxing to face Paul.

Fury is 8-0 as a professional, but has been inactive over the last year or so due to his ongoing feud with Paul delaying his progress. He insists that he wants to pursue area and British titles on the road to becoming a world champion, but appears to have leaned into YouTube boxing with his Paul rivalry.
