Things got rather fraught on Thursday's This Morning as hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were embroiled in a spat with studio guest Beverley Turner as viewers hit out at her opinions online.
Former Formula 1 host Bev is a regular contributor on the ITV daytime show, but her opinions have been known to rub viewers up the wrong way,. as well as sparkling controversy in the studio. And she got on the wrong side of presenters Phillip and Holly during a discussion on cost of living, as the hosting duo fronted their final show of the week and families are plunged into financial difficulties due to the soaring cost of energy prices.
Bev joined fellow guest Tom Swarbrick for the debate, which kicked off with Holly saying: "It is desperate times and then you hear stories like this and it's one of saddest stories I've ever heard... Parents who are living in McDonalds with their kids because of soaring costs, they buy as little food as they can justify. People have even seen families brushing their teeth in these restaurants and this is the reality of the situation we face."

Not seeming to agree with what Holly said, Bev replied: "It is terrible but we also have - and I'm going to sound incredibly callous now - but we also have a huge employment shortage, we have more availability for jobs at the moment than we have ever had before."
Having listened to Bev's point, Holly questioned: "And who pays for the childcare?" Bev responded: "If the children are not at school age Holly, I totally agree, that's really difficult. But if your children are at school all day, I'm sorry I just don't think..."
Like co-presenter Holly, Phillip didn't seem to impressed with Bev's take on the crisis, telling her: "But it does sound rather callous, because the mere fact of what Holly said they're in McDonald's with their kids, so those kids are maybe not at school age so what else do you do?"
Bev failed to offer a clear answer to Phillip's question, which led to him adding:"" I mean essentially you're just saying, 'go out and get a job." Like Phillip and Holly, people watching at home weren't enamoured with Bev's stance, with one tweeting: "I honestly can’t believe what Bev Turner as just said. People that have jobs are using food banks etc not just people on benefits. Unbelievable I am furious."
Another reacted: "Bev Turner just made herself look stupid didn't she. Just go out and get a job eh? Even if you have small children that will need minding which will consequently take half of the money you earn. Why is she on TV? Oh yes, because SHE is probably earning a fortune."
