Tesco and Lidl recall food items due to small pieces of metal and allergy concerns

Supermarkets Tesco and Lidl are pulling a number of food items off the shelves due to health and safety risks.

Some of the products have been recalled due to the presence of small pieces of metal, possible salmonella and undeclared allergens, according to Trading Standards.

Information on product recalls are usually shared by Trading Standards after they’re pulled from shelves.

If an item has been recalled, you should be able to get your money back. Go back to the store where you purchased the product for more information.

Products that have been recalled in the past week include:

Tesco Active strawberry and chocolate fudge whey Protein

Tesco is recalling the Tesco Active Strawberry Flavoured Whey Protein and Tesco Active Chocolate Fudge Flavoured Whey Protein as they may contain small pieces of metal, making them unsafe to eat.

P&B (Foods) Limited Heera Rewdi and Heera Sweet Makhana

P&B (Foods) Limited is recalling Heera Rewdi because of a failure to mention some allergens on the packaging

The product contains sesame and Heera Sweet Makhana because they contain sulphites - and neither allergens are mentioned on the label.

This poses a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to sesame and/or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

PASCO Tikka Masala and Jalfrezi Cooking Sauces

PASCO Food Ltd is pulling PASCO Delhi Tikka Masala Cooking Sauce and PASCO Rajestani Jalfrezi Cooking Sauce off the supermarket shelves.

This is due to a production fault which has shortened the shelf life of the product, making them unsafe to eat.

Lidl GB recalls Select and Go Sushi Box Salmon and Shrimp

Lidl is pulling its Select and Go Sushi Box Salmon and Shrimp because the product contains a number of allergens that are not declared on its label.

This includes crustaceans, fish, mustard, sesame, soya, egg, wheat (gluten), milk, and sulphites.

The product is therefore a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and/or an allergy to the ingredients listed above.

Those with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites may also experience health risks from the product.

  • Use by: All use by dates up to and including 11 October 2022
  • Allergens: Crustaceans, fish, mustard, sesame, soya, egg, wheat (gluten), milk and sulphites.
