Lady Gaga has apologised to beauty influencer Golloria after her cosmetics brand, Haus Labs, faced criticism over its new bronzer's shade range. The singer acknowledged that the company made the wrong decision and that the way it handled Golloria's feedback was wrong. She also confirmed that the product will now launch with 11 shades instead of six.

In a statement shared through Haus Labs' Instagram account, Gaga addressed both issues. She admitted that the original shade selection was insufficient. She also acknowledged that asking Golloria to remove her review was unkind.

The apology follows months of criticism surrounding the Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil. Golloria first raised concerns in May 2024 after testing three of its darkest shades. Her review questioned whether the product adequately catered to people with deeper skin tones.

The controversy attracted attention in part because Golloria had previously expressed support for Haus Labs' complexion products. Her criticism in this case focused on a specific product rather than a rejection of the entire brand. Gaga's response has since helped steer the discussion towards accountability and shade inclusivity.

The dispute began when Golloria posted a video reviewing the upcoming Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil. The product was initially scheduled to launch with six shades. After testing the three darkest options, she expressed disappointment with their suitability for deeper complexions.

According to a report by PEOPLE, Golloria later published a follow-up video claiming Haus Labs had asked her to remove the original review because the product was under embargo. An embargo generally restricts when reviewers can publish information about an unreleased product.

How Golloria's Review Sparked the Haus Labs Controversy

'I don't know what or who you guys switched up in that lab, but switch it back. Thank you,' she said.

Her caption also challenged the idea that any brand should be beyond criticism. She wrote that 'no one is bigger than the program,' including herself and Haus Labs. She concluded by telling the company to 'do better.'

Golloria later published a follow‑up video about the brand's response, in which she reiterated that Haus Labs had asked her to remove the original review because the product was under embargo. Gaga's subsequent statement confirmed that the company had made the request.

The circumstances surrounding that request became another part of the controversy. In her statement, Gaga acknowledged that the way Haus Labs handled Golloria's feedback was wrong and unkind.

The statement did not simply address the product's original shade selection. It also recognised the importance of allowing creators and customers to express criticism. Gaga described the treatment of Golloria as 'unkind.'

Lady Gaga Confirms 11 Shades After Public Apology

Gaga accepted responsibility for the company's decisions in her statement. She said Haus Labs had completed its shade-development process before an internal decision was made to launch with six shades. She acknowledged that this was the wrong decision.

'It is clear that the way the company initially handled that feedback was wrong,' Gaga wrote. She added that the company wanted 'to take full responsibility for our mistakes.'

The singer also explained that the criticism prompted Haus Labs to pause the launch. The team returned to product development to create what she described as a 'truly inclusive shade range' from day one. She also confirmed that the company held internal discussions about what went wrong.

Gaga's most direct message addressed Golloria personally. 'I truly apologise to Golloria and the community for where we fell short. You were 100% right,' Gaga wrote.

She followed the apology with a commitment to prevent similar problems. 'We will work hard to make sure it never happens again. Personally, I will see to it,' Gaga added.

The revised Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil will launch with 11 shades, adding five to the original selection. Gaga did not provide a confirmed release date. She said the expanded range would offer options developed for every skin tone.

The statement also included a message of appreciation for the community. 'We love you, and we are sorry,' Gaga wrote. She said Haus Labs hoped the new shades would demonstrate how seriously the company had considered the feedback.

Golloria subsequently addressed the apology through her Instagram Story. According to USA TODAY, she explained that her criticism extended beyond an individual make‑up product. She described colourism as a broader issue affecting beauty standards and representation.

'I cannot dismantle colourism alone. But I can make sure it does not go unchallenged anywhere my voice can reach,' she wrote.

Her response placed the disagreement within a wider conversation about whose skin tones are represented in the beauty industry. It also underscored the distinction between expanding a product range and addressing the experiences behind calls for greater representation.

For Haus Labs, the immediate development is a revised launch plan and a public acknowledgement of its earlier decisions. Whether the 11 shades meet customers' expectations will become clearer once the product reaches consumers. For now, Gaga has publicly recognised Golloria's criticism and committed the company to making changes.
