John Lennon and Yoko Ono once rented an apartment in a West Village townhouse that has since been transformed into a six-storey Manhattan megamansion. The couple lived at 105 Bank Street in the early 1970s, when the building was still one of two neighbouring townhouses more than a century old. Decades later, developer RoundSquare combined the two properties and rebuilt them into a 40-foot-wide residence designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects. The completed home, spanning about 13,000 square feet, has now sold for $70 million. The sale made it New York City’s most expensive townhouse transaction of 2026 at the time of its closing.
