San Francisco Reports First Flu Death of 2026–27 Season as Health Officials Urge Flu and COVID Vaccines

An adult in San Francisco has died after contracting influenza, the city's first flu-related death of the 2026–27 season, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) announced Thursday, October 1. Officials did not release any other details about the person, according to Bay City News.

Health officials are urging residents to get a flu shot along with an updated COVID-19 vaccine. Both vaccines can be given at the same visit.
