Suspected drug driver led police on high speed chase

A suspected drug driver led police on a high speed chase after failing to stop.

Officers spotted a man driving a VW Golf on at high speed on Northern Road in Crosby on Sunday at around 9.30pm. The driver was requested to stop by officers.

The car failed to pull over and a pursuit took place across Crosby, Waterloo and Thornton. The car was eventually brought to a stop where the driver was detained and arrested.

A 36-year-old, from the Sefton area, was arrested on Brownmoor Lane in Crosby. He was released under investigation on suspicion of failing to stop; dangerous driving and drug driving.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "At around 9.30pm, a man was seen driving a VW Golf at high speed on Northern Road, Crosby, and failed to stop, so a pursuit was authorised. A 36-year-old man from Sefton was arrested on Brownmoor Lane.

"He has been released under investigation on suspicion of fail to stop; dangerous driving and drug driving."
