Severn Trent has issued an update after part of Beeston was flooded due to a damaged water main. On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 7, water could be seen shooting into the air after a water pipe was damaged by a third party near High Road.
Due to the leak, public transport services were affected for the rest of the day and into the following morning. A number of homes nearby were also flooded and some had to be evacuated, and multiple roads in the area were affected.
It is understood the pipe was damage on the old Nottingham College site, which is currently under construction after the ALB Group secured planning permission for a residential development for students. A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We are continuing to work on a permanent repair for the water main which was damaged by third party contractors building student accommodation.
"Our teams have been working hard and we have kept all customers on supply throughout this incident, and we are continuing to meet with the contractors on site as they support our investigation into the cause of this incident.”
