Sam Fender breaks Glastonbury 'silence' with three word response as Shearer and Grealish react

Sam Fender has broken his silence after making the dream Glastonbury debut, with a three word response for fans.

The North Shields singer and his always top notch band fired on all cylinders as they stormed the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm, earning rave reviews from those there in the flesh and the many who watched the BBC's live coverage online.

Sam's Glastonbury setlist included already classic tracks from his two albums like opening number Will We Talk saxophone-soaked smashes The Borders and Get You Down, spine-tingling ode to Newcastle - The Dying Light - and Seventeen Going Under, which prompted a mass singalong that will live long in the memories of Sam and his band and everyone watching.

Sam even drank Newcastle Brown Ale on stage, winning even more those from those tuning in back home, while others argued that he should have been Friday headliner, rather than Billie Eilish, having given one of the best performance of rhe whole weekend.

After the dust settled on his triumphant first Glastonbury, Sam was absent from social media but finally posted about the career-defining moment on Tuesday afternoon. Posting clips of Seventeen Going Under, on Instagram he captioned them with the short but sweet line: "Thank you Glastonbury," along with a love heart emoji.

Among the many people who took just minutes to react to Sam's Instagram was Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, who reacted with applause and flame emojis, while current England international Jack Grealish chose a heart eyed icon and applauses to get his point across,.

A long time fan commented: "Iconic - thank you... So incredible to watch your journey and be a small part of supporting you from the early days and witness the world discover you bunch of legends," while another told Sam: "Epic. Must have felt amazing for you."
