Reds’ Victory Fireworks Drown Out Taylor Swift Concert at Neighboring Stadium

Most fans in Cincinnati will have been happy about the Reds’ walk-off victory on Friday night, except for those in attendance at the nearby Taylor Swift concert, that is.

“Swifties” sold out Paycor Stadium, home of the Bengals, on Friday as the pop music star’s Eras Tour came to Cincinnati. Unfortunately, some of Swift’s slower songs seem to have come at an inopportune moment.

Right in the middle of Swift’s performance, Reds’ Spencer Steer gave his team a 7-5 win with a walk-off two-run home run against the Padres. The Great American Ball Park put on a fireworks display in celebration of the walk-off win, but it appears to have interfered with the concert.

While a soft piano melody filled Paycor Stadium, the Reds’ fireworks could be overheard drowning out the music.

With less than half a mile separating the two stadiums, it’s no surprise that the Reds’ celebratory antics were able to compete with Swift’s music.

Fortunately, there shouldn’t be any chance of interference between the two on Saturday. Swift’s final show in Cincinnati is scheduled for the evening, while the Reds wrapped up their game against San Diego earlier in the afternoon.

The Reds overcame a 4-2 deficit in order to pick up the win on Friday, courtesy of Steer’s 11th-inning heroics, though Swift fans may not be so appreciative of the victory.
