Rangers transfer latest as club enter talks for Premier League attacker

Rangers are in talks to sign Coventry City winger Jahnoah Markelo.

The club is keen to secure the 23-year-old ahead of their Premiership opener against Dundee United.

Markelo, who came through the ranks at Ajax before moving to Coventry following a two-year spell with FC Zurich, is on Rangers' shortlist for the right-wing position, reports the Rangers Review.

This comes after manager Derek McInnes stressed the need to strengthen wide areas following pre-season matches.

The club is considering a loan move for the player, who made only five appearances for Coventry last season. There has been significant interest in Markelo from across Europe this summer.

Rangers are also set to finalise a deal for Philadelphia Union defender Olwethu Makhanya. The South African international is expected to sign a four-year contract with Rangers, making him the club's eighth summer signing.

Union will receive around £3 million for the defender, adding another option to McInnes's defensive line-up.

Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry is also under consideration for the right-wing position. The 21-year-old impressed on loan at Bolton last season and remains a potential choice for Rangers.

He continues to train with Brighton, as they decide on his future with the south-coast club.
