Rangers Champions League squad provides intriguing updates on Helander, Katic, Morelos and Roofe

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been given a chance of making next week's Champions League third-round qualifier against Union St Gilloise.

The Colombian forward is back in training ahead of the Premiership season beginning against Livingston on Saturday after missing a large chunk of last season's second half with a thigh injury. Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has named his 23-man squad for the trip to Belgium on Tuesday and Morelos is included as his recovery continues.

Fellow striker Kemar Roofe is also on the comeback trail from injury but he doesn't make the cut. Swedish defender Filip Helander also doesn't pass as fit for the match with his fitness problems not subsiding in time while Ianis Hagi is a long-term absentee. Rangers youngsters Leon King, Adam Devine, and Alex Lowry are among the prospects named on the 'B' list but another starlet in Charlie McCann misses out this time.
