RAJKOT: Tragedy struck the house of a rickshaw driver in the city when he committed suicide and his wife too attempted to end his life after his drastic step.
Jaydeep Boricha, 29, and his wife Jayshree, had a bitter quarrel on Wednesday night over taking care of their one-and-a-half-year-old son. When Boricha returned home at around 9:30pm, his wife told him to take care of the son as she had to cook dinner. But Boricha refused saying he was exhausted after the day's work. This led to a fight between them and Borciha went to the room on the first floor and hanged himself. When he did not come for dinner for a long time, Jayshree went to check and saw him hanging from the ceiling.
Shocked by his death, she too consumed acid
Neighbours called 108 ambulance and the couple was rushed to the civil hospital where Boricha was declared dead on admission while Jayshree is battling for life.
Aji Dam police are investigating the case.
