Prince Harry's 'touching' reason for moving back to UK with Meghan Markle

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle could be preparing to return back to the UK, according to a former royal butler.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex infamously stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to carve a more 'private' life for their family out of the public eye.

But now according to reports in the Mirror, despite only returning back to the UK a handful of times, it seems a permanent move could be on the cards for the couple. Both attended the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, where they also celebrated Lilibet's first birthday.

Earlier this year, Prince Harry attended his father's historical coronation at Westminster Abbey on his own, as his wife stayed behind in the US with the day also subsequently landing on Prince Archie's fourth birthday.

The Duke spent only a few hours at the landmark ceremony before jetting back to the couple's Monetico home.

According to an ex-royal butler, it appears the couple could now be looking at a more permanent option for staying in the UK as it is claimed they could be looking to set up home and buy property.

King Charles' former butler, Grant Harrold, told the New York Post : "I'd never say never, it's always possible that one day he might want to come home, it's possible that he might buy [a property] here if he wanted to come over [more] and Meghan didn't want to come over.

"Meghan doesn't really have any family here as such, all her family are in the States and that's where Harry has decided he wants to set up his home."

Harry was born in raised in Britain and Grant believes thinks his ties to his homeland will be too tough for the duke to cut off for good, as he explained: "He'll want to have that association with Britain just in case one day he does want to come back and I don't think Harry will want to sever ties."

However, Grant, speaking on behalf of Oddspedia, did admit the duke seemed "happy in the States" and that any return to the UK wouldn't be soon, although stressed it remained "very possible"
