Popular Milngavie restaurant 'forced' to close for weeks over increased costs of bills

Fans of a popular restaurant in Milngavie have been upset after the team behind it announced they have had to take the 'drastic decision' to close temporarily due to rising costs.

The owners of Finsbay took to their official Facebook page posting they would be closing for four weeks and had been forced to take the decision due to increases in the costs of items including staffing, power bills and ingredients.

They wrote: "Hi Everyone, unfortunately, the last few years have taken their toll on Finsbay. With recent increases in produce costs, electricity bills and staffing requirements we have had to make a drastic decision regarding the venue. We will be closing the doors of Finsbay for at least the next four weeks starting today (Sunday evening).

"This has not been an easy decision and not one we have taken lightly. We don’t feel we can continue the standards and business model under the current pressures."

However, it wasn't all bad news for the local eatery, which first opened in 2016 and with three more restaurants having been added since, with the group stating that they hope the time closed will help them bring a "new and improved model" of their venue when they reopen.

They added that they wanted to give a "huge thank you" to all of their customers who have stayed loyal and stuck with them over the past few years.

"With the economic pressures, we have not always been as perfect as we would like," They added. "But you have been patient and stuck with us and for that we are extremely grateful."

They also confirmed that their three other venues, Finsbay Flatiron on Woodlands Road and Fullbacks and Charlie's Loft in Milngavie, would remain open and would accept all gift vouchers during the closure period. They wrote: "Many of our staff will be moving to these other venues. Ongoing support to these units would be greatly appreciated."

One fan wrote: "So relieved to know You are not voting your doors for good. Can't wait to see and visit your new model. Good luck with the change."

Another added: "So sorry to hear. You're the best in Glasgow. You'll weather-wise this storm and come out stronger."
