Popular Japanese clothing brand to open second Scottish store

JAPANESE fashion brand Uniqlo has revealed it has chosen Glasgow to open its second Scottish store.

The popular clothing brand is set to open a 22,500 square foot store located in the St Enoch Centre on Argyle Street, real estate media outlet CoStar News reported.

It also reported the major global retailer will have a prominent frontage in the shopping mall as the store will be situated between the entrance of the St Enoch Centre and the H&M store.

The news follows the opening of Uniqlo’s first Scottish store in Edinburgh on April 25 in the historic BHS building on Princes Street in Edinburgh.

It became the brand's nineteenth branch in the UK and shoppers were excited to have their first shop north of the Border.

The high-street fashion brand was originally founded in Yamaguchi, Japan in 1949 as a textiles manufacturer, and has since grown into a hugely recognisable global brand with more than 2000 stores worldwide.

The brand is well known for its LifeWear clothing as well as products such as its popular crossbody bag that has gone viral on social media platforms like TikTok.

Uniqlo has previously confirmed it plans to open 10 stores in Europe in 2024, with a further 15 in 2025 and 20 in 2026 as sales across the UK and European business soared by more than a third to £1.1 billion last year, according to the company's accounts.
