Pensioner remains in hospital after Lanarkshire crash as road closed for seven hours

Two women have been left seriously injured following a two car crash in Lanarkshire, they both remain in hospital.

The incident happened on the A70, Ayr Road in Carstairs, approximately one mile north of the junction with Hyndford Road around 1.50pm on Wednesday, 22 March.

The crash involved a black Hyundai i20 and a grey Peugeot 308. The 63-year-old female driver of the Peugeot was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by air ambulance for treatment to serious injuries where she remains.
