Texas Confirms a Measles Outbreak in Montgomery County After a Traveler Infected Four Unvaccinated Residents

Texas health officials have declared a measles outbreak in Montgomery County after four unvaccinated members of one family were infected by a person who traveled into the state with measles, and one of them, a woman in her twenties, was hospitalized.

The Texas Department of State Health Services issued a health alert to clinicians and the public, warning that "additional cases may occur" because of how contagious the virus is. Four linked cases meet the standard federal definition of an outbreak: three or more related cases.
