If you haven’t heard already, Patrick Beverley is now a Los Angeles Laker. Chances are you probably didn’t — especially if you’re on the East coast.
The Lakers and Jazz pulled off a swap in the middle of the night to send Beverly to Los Angeles for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
We all knew a Beverley trade had to come at some point — the Jazz are determined to tear their roster down and rebuild from scratch. The Rudy Gobert trade started it and the eventual Donovan Mitchell trade will continue it. Other winning players, like Beverley, will fall by the wayside, too.
It’s just that no one expected them to make this move at 11 p.m. on the East Coast.
The Los Angeles Lakers are in advanced talks on a trade to acquire Utah Jazz guard Patrick Beverley for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson, sources tell ESPN. Deal could be finalized as soon as Thursday.

Beverley, himself, is included in no one. He had no idea he was traded in the middle of the night. Why? Because he was actually sleeping just like the rest of us.
Woke up a Laker!!! 💜💛🙏🏾 Its On!!!

Clearly, he’s excited. But, ya know. Maybe wake him up next time. Or, better yet, just make the move when everyone else is awake? That’s probably a good idea.
