An overturned oil tanker has closed a road on Thursday in Caerphilly borough. The tanker, which toppled shortly after 12pm, has closed the A469 Brithdir Road in both directions for the last six hours near Aberbargoed in north Caerphilly borough.
Pictures shared by a motorist who says he saw the driver of the tanker emerge from the vehicle show the tanker on its side with the driver’s door wide open at the bend overlooking Factory Road. One onlooker said the road surface was slippery at the bend near Brithdir cemetery. He said it wasn’t particularly windy but the bend is tight and sudden.
The tanker left some spillage on the road, onlookers said, and was still on its side on Thursday evening. To get more Caerphilly borough stories straight to your inbox, subscribe to our dedicated newsletter here.
