One-bed London home that ‘looks like shed’ has £50k slashed off £430k price

A London home has hit the headlines once again after having £50,000 slashed off its asking price within two months. Londoners didn't seem convinced by the quirky property that was previously likened to a “garden shed”, even though MyLondon reports the property is moments away from trendy Victoria Park.

It is small and all corners of the one-bedroom house are used to maximise space. Better suited to George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, it remains listed by Foxtons estate agents and was listed originally at £429,950 before being reduced to £380,000.

It is described by Foxtons on Zoopla as: “An amazing one-bedroom flat boasting bright and contemporary accommodation throughout and a quiet location moments from Victoria Park. The property is situated moments from a range of shops and amenities that can be found at the Victoria Park village in Hackney while the green expanses of Victoria Park are only a short distance away.”

When it was first put on the market there was outrage at the price. It was labelled “absurd” and “complete madness” that the “garden shed” was on sale at such a cost.

The home was listed for £429,950 in January and boasts an open-plan kitchen and reception, with a bathroom on the ground floor and a bedroom on the raised first floor. Every inch of space in this pint-sized home has been used thoughtfully, with stylish shelves, seamless worktops and a bed that fits snugly into the property’s design.

It is grey in colour and decorated with garden plants. It could have been taken out of an Ikea store and is maybe a bit smaller than a typical showroom in the Swedish homeware shop.

The areas surrounding Victoria Park are considered highly desirable for homeowners, with a number of schools nearby and many independent shops, pubs and restaurants. In 2020 Victoria Park was named as one of the best places to live in London by The Times .
