It's the end of an era for a village pub later this month after the departure of the current tenants - but it's not the end of the road. The last trading day at the Pear Tree in Keyworth is June 18, after which is will close for a month to undergo a revamp.
The pub, owned by Star Pubs & Bars, will reopen with new operators in mid-July. The outgoing tenants, who have run the pub for four years, will go out with a bang though, or as they put it "one last full power week."
The pub, in Nottingham Road, will have its last evening of entertainment on Saturday June, 10. The tenants declined to speak to Nottinghamshire Live, but posted on Facebook: "In our last trading week and in particular Thursday 15 through to Saturday 17 we will be celebrating by partying the weekend away feel free to join us where all stock must go.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for supporting us here at the Pear Tree and to all the staff that have played a part in making this pub what it has been. Thanks once again from us all here at the Pear Tree and we look forward to seeing you for one last ‘FULL POWER’ week."
The refurbishment will begin immediately after their departure, starting on June 19. It will temporarily leave the village with just one pub, the Keyworth Tavern, since the Salutation, in Main Street, is currently closed as the search for a new tenant continues.
In one infamous incident in the pub's recent history, in 2016, a punter knocked himself out while showing off his dance moves. When the DJ started playing Wham's Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, the man spun around and smashed his head on the floor – knocking himself unconscious.
He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where he needed 16 stitches. His wife later said she had never laughed so much - and even the man saw the funny side of it.
